A bill providing additional benefits for large family parents (those with three or more children) has been submitted to the Duma for consideration.
It is proposed to change the criteria for granting leave on dates convenient for parents with large family. The age of the eldest child for the benefit should not exceed 18 years (23 for full-time students). The bill would abolish altogether the current provision limiting the maximum age of the youngest child. Currently the "upper limit" of age is 18 and 14 years, respectively (Article 262.2 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation).
Similarly, there is a ban on sending parents with many children on business trips, on overtime, night work, work on weekends and holidays without their written consent (Part 3 of Article 259 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation) if the age of the eldest child is less than 18 years (23 for full-time students).
Additionally, for single parents raising children under the age of 14, it is proposed to preserve the preferential right to keep a job during a staff reduction – conditional upon equal productivity and qualifications.
